Oldies from the summer 2012… yeap, time goes by so fast!

These drawings are part of my first Dalvero Academy Class Session in the summer 2012. Revising folders in my computer I came to realize that I really never posted these ones. Ops! It's me, what can I say, I think I did something when in reality I just thought about it and for some reason my brain accepts it like it's a done deal! Oh well, here they are… some more loose sketches from Summer 2012 at Disney Parks.

More… from people in the parks.

People, people people… what other place would you find more people to draw than at Disney's parks.

People in the parks...

Walking around the Disney Parks you find a bunch of really interesting characters to draw. Here some samples:

Hiding(?) between the trees of Animal Kingdom.

This might be the funniest, coolest band in the world, at least in Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

The Piano Guy (forgot his name) has been there forever, first time I visited Disney was 1996, he was already there…
back this past August, he is still there. Funny is an underestimate, the guy is real cool guy!

Cellphones at hand… quite normal...

Even the photographers on Main Street USA, at Magic Kingdom, are "on character" 24/7.

At Disney with the Dalvero Academy

Last August, I attended the summer drawing session of the Dalvero Academy held at the Disney parks in Orlando. Although it was extremely hot, it was, like always, very fun and full of growth. Instructors Veronica Lawlor and Margaret Hurst always make it a memorable experience. I just love the vibe and the energy of an intensive drawing session, 8-10 hours of drawings a day for 10 days, gives you stamina for the entire year, oh yes!!!

Here some of the drawings from this trip:

2013 = Explore!/¡Explorar!

For 2013 I've chosen a word to honor during this new year: "Explore". Here a couple of pages from my Disney sketchbook during my last visit in August '12. Looking forward to continue exploring the lines and textures of life, let's celebrate the joy of drawing and sharing!

Disney...

This summer I took sometime for myself after the urban sketching symposium and headed to Disney to take a workshop on reportage illustration with Veronica Lawlor and Margaret Hurst, from the Dalvero Academy. Great time, totally disconnected from daily life, the opportunity to share time with many talented and creative artist and just have fun the way I like it: drawing! Once more I recognize there is always room to learn more and continue growing.
Here some scenes from the carousel in magic Kingdom, right behind the famous castle in Disney. If you wish to see the drawing bigger, click on them, or if you want to see more of my drawing you can see my album on Flickr.

Horses at Carrousel / Caballos del Carrusel

These are a couple of spreads from my sketchbook done at Disney, from the Carrousel. Just quick thumbnails trying to capture those lifeless horses.

Back in the good old days! En los viejos y buenos tiempos...

The following two drawings were done at Epcot Center, Orlando. The first one in the Mexican Pavilion and the second one in the Italian one. For quiet a long time I had lost the habit of drawing outdoors like I used to back in 1997 along with Passalacqua's class. Every single time I look at these two drawings I get the urge to go outside and JUST DRAW!

Drawing on the spot! Dibujando "in situ"!

I began sketching outdoors many years ago in a drawing class in college. I had a teacher, Mr. Passalacqua, who took us to Disney World to DRAW!!! It was such a fantastic feeling. Through the years I lost the habit of sketching outdoors but I had recently decided to go back to my roots and walk around again with my sketchbook and capture what's going on around me. Here are some of those drawing from those college years.
Enjoy!
